 School District No. 57 is located in the centre of the province, extending north to Mackenzie, south to Hixon, and east to McBride and Valemount. The district encompasses 52,000 square kilometers and is the second largest school district in the province in geographical size. It has a student population of 13,000 students enrolled in variety of choice programs in 31 elementary schools, and 8 secondary schools. In addition, our Centre for Learning Alternatives provides alternate education programs, continuing and distance education programs, and education services to a small number of international students. The school district’s annual operating budget for 2015-2016 is $125.9 million. There are 1,850 administrators, teachers and support staff employed in the district.

You have a strong track record of leadership providing innovative student achievement initiatives and strong advocacy for children and public education.  You have a well-earned reputation of teamwork and building positive relationships with all district partners. You bring a background that includes an advanced degree and diverse teaching and administrative experience at the school and district level.

You have had positive administrative experience leading and motivating teams preferably in elementary, secondary and on district committees.  You always maintain the focus of directing learning that enriches the life of each student.  You mentor and develop student and employee leaders, encouraging them to excel in the support of education programs and the community of which they are part.

You have a keen sense of curiosity that extends to technological innovation and all aspects of 21st Century Learning.  You use technology to advance both the education needs of the school district and budget software to support school based budgeting.

You work respectfully and effectively with the unionized leadership and recognize the importance of working within collective agreements.  You have experience in labour relations issues such as investigations, grievance handling and negotiations.

The School District acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh people in Prince George and McBride, the McLeod Lake Indian Band in the Mackenzie region, as well as the Simpcw First Nation in Valemount.
