Located on central Vancouver Island, the district is ideally suited for easy access to the Lower Mainland cities and transportation hubs and everything “The Island” has to offer from unlimited recreation, Canada’s mildest climate and some of the most inspiring wilderness in the world.
Reporting to the Assistant Secretary Treasurer, the Director of Information Technology will plan, organize, and manage a team of 20 dedicated employees, as well as contractors and managed services vendors to ensure the stable operation of the School District’s IT infrastructure. Our infrastructure spans multiple schools and work sites with thousands of combined users.
With a focus on customer support, the Director’s primary responsibilities include developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, such as: Student Information System (My Education BC), , network, server, email and storage infrastructure, PowerSchool ERP, Cloud Services – G suite, O365, Information security, disaster recovery, technology refresh, educational technology projects, business initiatives , other financial and human resources systems and customer support functions.
The ideal candidate is willing to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple competing priorities and assignments. They must be capable enough to balance maintaining business continuity and planning for future demand while always delivering an exceptional internal customer experience.
