This exciting opportunity working with one of the largest school districts in the province will provide you an opportunity to use your Human Resources and Labour Relations leadership skills to contribute to our district mission of enabling students to reach their maximum potential. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will create and implement a long-term vision reflective of the strategic importance of human resource practices in our diverse and dynamic district.
Your strong background in Human Resources and Labour Relations in a unionized environment will equip you well to manage within the VSB. Experience, knowledge and an understanding of the K-12 sector would be a strong asset. Your proven track record of building relationships will allow you to work well with the dedicated team of Employee Services professionals in the department as well as with a variety of associations, community members, employee groups and unions. Transparent communication and inclusive decision making are the hallmarks of your leadership style, as is an ability to effectively manage changing conditions and emerging issues.
Above all, you are committed to the people of our district – you have a strong understanding of how employee wellness and professional growth contribute to the district’s wider goals. The Vancouver School Board is an urban, multicultural school district providing programs to 50,000 students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our programs and services are designed to address extraordinary and complex challenges as we serve the needs and tap the unique potential of each of our students. The current operating budget for the district is in excess of $600 million with major capital projects underway.
