With 2,000 employees serving 13,000 students Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools provides quality educational opportunities in both traditional and alternative learning environments, including French Immersion, International Education, Distributed Learning and a variety of specialized academies.

Located on central Vancouver Island, the district is ideally suited for easy access to the Lower Mainland cities and transportation hubs and everything “The Island” has to offer from unlimited recreation, Canada’s mildest climate and some of the most inspiring wilderness in the world.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources you will provide a broad range of Human Resources services to the school district.  You have the experience of providing services to support a high performance culture which promotes Human Resources as a key strategic partner to the larger organization.

You have the courage, ability and skills that provides operational and technical advice to the leaders across the organization.  You have had successful implementation of HR organizational initiatives and have been part of the development and delivery of a HR strategic plan that is linked to the organizations goals and objectives.

With strong positive interpersonal skills, you have the ability to influence, innovate, build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and employ HR industry best practices in helping to create organizations that positively move forward.

Using your innate ability to see the big picture while understanding the details, you will be able to successfully link our educational aspirations with our corporate necessities. This talent will also be behind your ability to identify areas of improvement and bring forward innovative new ideas and approaches.

With a reputation for honest, direct and proactive communication, you will be an excellent representative of the district, building strong, respectful alliances with our partners and stakeholders.  You will have had excellent relations with union partners and have managed labour issues, collective bargaining, and workplace investigations.

You have a university degree or relevant diploma combined with 7-10 years of progressive and ideally multi-union public sector Human Resource experience.  It would be ideal if you had completed your CHRP certification.
