“Working Together for Quality Public Education”

Joining a progressive Board of Education, you will have the senior level administrative experience to lead a strong team of professionals who have worked together to create a vibrant and engaged educational community.

You will be a visionary who encourages innovation in others.  You will have strong professional practice that is attuned to the best practice trends in education, but will anchor team-based decision making to solid and current educational research.  As a team builder, you will develop trust, solidify relationships and empower others to excel.  You have the drive and expertise to create and sustain optimal learning environments – sometimes acting as an agent of change, other times as a steward of existing success.

You will have a track record of fiscal and educational accountability and will have found unique ways to maintain programs that support the growth of all students and employees within the school system.  You will have experience leading and working in a diverse school district and will be as familiar with the one room rural school as you are with the large complex urban secondary school.

Your experience as a senior level administrator, with a Master’s Degree, will demonstrate your creativity at engaging a community in the development of programs that unite the communities’ vitality and growth with the emerging needs of entering students, as well as those graduating.

Kamloops is a strategic hub in the Interior of BC where four major highways come together in the city, and is serviced by several airlines, in addition to the Rocky Mountaineer and VIA Rail.   Although it boasts all the amenities of an urban centre, Kamloops and its surrounding communities offer unparalleled recreational opportunities, including a world class ski resort, some of BC’s finest golf courses, and both water and mountain sports.

The district has 33 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 10 secondary schools, a number of alternate education programs as well as 1 distance education school. The district employs 1,113 full time, part time, and relief educators and more than 759 support staff.

The school district provides Public Education Programs to nearly 15,000 students in the City of Kamloops, and the municipalities of Chase, Barriere, Logan Lake, Sun Peaks and Clearwater.  Many smaller communities make up the district, from Savona in the west, to Westwold in the southeast, and to Blue River in the north.  The population of this region is approximately 103,000.  The majority of the school district’s residents live in Kamloops.
